Hello and welcome back, archers. Well, the European Indoor Archery Championships 2026 came, it saw, and it conquered the hearts and minds of us all, I think it is safe to say, and maybe our nerves also 🙂.
For a good number of those who did take part, it would have been their first big competition experience, myself included, and all of the ideas you may have had beforehand very possibly got changed big-time after this wonderful experience. I, for one, now have serious intentions of taking part in the next European Champs in two years from now in Estonia, something that I would not have even considered before this experience, and it is not because I am a glutton for punishment, but because in the ups and downs of this recent experience, I actually began to think, maybe I could do this better. And I don’t think that such a thought was without evidence, but regardless of my own delusions, I have been speaking with many archers since who have shared the exact same sentiment with me, and dare I say it, a plan is all by itself seemingly bubbling itself into existence. And if this is a thought that you yourself are experiencing right now, I urge you to get in touch and commit to a group effort, and we can all together prepare to venture abroad in two years’ time to find a repeat of this experience, with perhaps a better score for us all 🙂 🙂.
So now, in the hangover of the European Champs, a face like a bag of sausages that someone sat on after hitching a ride from a dream back to reality, and an ever-changing calendar for the shoots thus far, with the weather playing its part as the villain of fun and 3D shoots, but worry not, as the Redfox Archers have come to the rescue not once but twice. On both occasions, much fun was had by all who braved the journey to shoot some arrows and catch up with friends, and the laughing was loud, the arrows hitting the target for the most part, and memories made. So, a big thank you to Redfox Archers again and, of course, to all who came along to make both days such fun. Incidentally, the second shoot had some real nice blue skies and sunshine, which of course made the mingling after the shooting even more relaxing and fun as we all awaited the medal ceremony.
