1. What is your favourite animal?
Dog I’m a dog person through and through.
2. What club are you a member of?
Bangor and District Archery Club
3. What is your preferred shooting style?
I started of in recurve and still love it, but at this point in time I would definitely be a barebow archer so barebow.
4. How did you get into archery?
Archery was something I was always interested in as a lover of the outdoors but had never got the opportunity to give it a try. Then after my kids had been to a have a go session that their Grandparents took them to and they had went on to join a club, I thought I might as well get on board to and took the leap.
5. Who is your favourite fictional archer?
I’m going to have to be old school and say Robin Hood (the fox version from Disney).
6. What is your favourite competition type?
I absolutely love field archery but 3D just has that slight edge over it, but they are really close for me. I love the challenge of these type of events and being outdoors.
7. Would you rather do archery whilst riding a Unicorn or a Pegasus?
Pegasus
8. What is the oddest thing you have seen during a competition?
During a 3D shoot at one target you had to shoot from a large clay mound down at a small 3D animal one of our group who I will add was young (around 20) didn’t like being up that high on the mound and didn’t want to walk down in case they slipped so decided to slide down on their backside much to the amusement of the whole group.
9. What is the best shot you have made in a competition?
First time shooting 50m at a field shoot, over a lake I was so pleased just to score on the target face.
10. Which fictious archers would you want on your side for team match?
Robin Hood as above, and probably Legolas.
11. What are your goals in archery?
Just to continue to improve my form and accuracy and to continue to enjoy myself and meet great people.
12. What is your proudest achievement in the sport?
Being at field and 3D shoots with my kids and watching them collect class win medals is a big proud Dad moment for me. On a individual level taking a class win at the NI field championships in my 1st year of archery.
13. What is the best advise you have been given in archery?
Practise, lots and lots of practise and always be open to advice from others.
14. How to you think you would of fared in the stone age with a bow and arrows?
Probably not well.
15. What is the one thing you really enjoy in the sport?
I love the social aspect
16. What one thing in the sport irritates you the most?
Losing arrows.
17. What would you like to see in terms of improvement within archery as a sport?
I’d love to see the field and 3D side of the sport expand more and to be more recognised
18. What do you think would make a great mascot for the sport of archery?
Possibly a chicken but absolutely a bird of some sort.
19. Who is your most fervent supporter?
Travis and Taylor, my kids always pushing me to do better.
20. If you could shoot another bow style, what would it be?
Flat bow, love the simplicity of them.
21. What is your favourite shooting venue?
I haven’t been to too many yet as just finished my first year in archery, but Greenmount college was a stunning place to shoot.
22. What would make a great 3D target?
A life size emu.
23. What would get more people into archery?
As someone who was interested in archery for many years but never really knew how to take the next step to get involved maybe better visibility from the governing bodies to guide people to what is a very inclusive sport.
